Health benefits of peas

Peas (Pisum  sativum L.)  is   annual herbaceous plant. It is of the family fabacee. Peas is  rich  in protein substances.  Apart from being very rich in protein, they hold a high nutritional value in the form of vitamins and minerals too. Owing to this, they have been associated with a large number of nutrition benefits.

It rich in carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, especially nitrogenous substance. Green peas, it’s very tasty used as linings  of  meat and fish. Just one cup of boiled green peas provides over 51% of the required amount of vitamin K, 42% of your daily manganese, 40% of the daily requirement of vitamin C and over ¼ of your body’s daily requirement of vitamin B1. It also contains between 12 to 25 % of the daily requirement for folate, vitamin A, tryptophan, phosphorus, B6, protein, niacin, magnesium, riboflavin, copper, iron, zinc and potassium. This naturally sweet legume is a favorite of both children and adults Peas have lutein, the carotenoid  and help  to reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. For those that suffer from gout, the pea is a taste treat that comes with a price.

Peas are a good source of other B Vitamins as well, such as thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), and niacin (vitamin B3).These help regulate lipid, carbohydrate and protein levels. Peas contain a fair amount of Vitamin C, which is our body’s main antioxidant protection against viruses and diseases, and perhaps even some cancers.

Peas  is a valuable forage crop.Being buried in soil under plowing, plants  serves   as   green manure.  The stems and leaves  of   decompose in a year. As a result nitrogenous substances pass into  the soil, as result it increases its fertility.
